What is this little black bug taking over? It is called an Elm Seed Bug
June 18, 2024
A little black bug is causing a big headache for many people in the Longmont and Northern Colorado area. They seem to be taking over homes and businesses and causing a huge nuisance.
According to the CSU Extension office, unlike boxelder bugs in the fall, “the elm seed bugs most often appear in homes from mid-June through September and may become active in homes.”
While a nuisance, there are ways of lowering the chances of having to deal with these pesky bugs.
CSU’s Extension Office says you should seal windows, doors and any cracks in your homes with a sealant.
Experts say to vacuum elm seed bugs found inside your home or business and then clean your vacuum.
You’re not advised to crush them because they can release a foul odor that would not be good to smell.
If they are really bad around where you live or work, you might want to consider calling Prime Pest Solutions to perform a pest control treatment to reduce the activity in and around the structure and take back what belongs to you. Your home and your yard.
Let Prime Pest Solutions treat safely and effectively to keep bugs where they belong.
